Once you escape the crowded paths and busy roads Southwold has an abundance of cycling potential. Inland offers an intricate network of country lanes linking many Suffolk villages. Despite the occasional horse or tractor these can be followed without touching major roads and not a traffic light in sight. Due to the landscape of our coast; with eroding coastlines, ballooning estuaries and protected marshland, the majority of coastal roads are 'in and out'. One of the only ways to overcome this and hug the coastline is to swap from road to mountain bikes and venture South through Walberswick, Dunwich and even as far as Seizewell or Aldeburgh.
